Mining Minds Matter, Working Away Not Alone
ConsMin have developed the “Mining Minds Matter, Working Away Not Alone” mental health program. The program is focused on destigmatising mental health and investing adequate resources into managing the mental health of our people.
Mental Health First Aid Officers have been appointed in the workplace to provide an immediate and considered response to a mental health issue or crisis. They understand how to respond appropriately until medical help is received or the crisis resolves. In addition to work team based Mental Health First Aid officers, all of the ConsMin leadership team are trained in Mental Health First Aid.
The Mining Minds Matter, Working Away not Alone has been recognised and awarded as the Best Health and Wellbeing program in 2019 by both DMIRS and Worksafe at the inaugural Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards and at the 27th National Safety Council of Australia Awards of Excellence. These awards are a celebration of best practice, best people and best performance.
To further reinforce our commitment to providing a mentally healthy workplace, we have recently taken delivery of eight custom made dump truck trays, in addition to dozer push-arms and a blade. The striking blue trays are emblazoned with "Mining Minds Matter" on one side of the tray, and "Working Away Not Alone" on the other.
The intent of the addition of these blue trays to the Consmin fleet is to further encourage our employees to have discussions about mental health, and to ask the question - R U OK?
